Local supermarket joins city’s anniversary celebration

Albertsons is now selling commemorative reusable shopping bags.

A local supermarket recently joined Redlands in celebrating its 125th anniversary.

The Albertsons store at 450 E. Cypress Ave. is selling reusable shop Pandora Bracelets ping bags that include an image of the city of Redlands’ 125th anni Pandora Bracelets versary logo on an orange crate on one side and the logo for local craft brewery Hangar 24 on the other side.

Store manager Mike Enright said the bags celebrating the city’s anniversary were a natural fit for his store, which has previously sold bags featuring historic Redlands locations.

“We sold 10,000 of the first design,” Enright said. “When those sold out, we had Pandora Bracelets been considering what to do for a new design.”

When Mayor Pro Tem Paul Foster approached Enright about featuring the city’s anniversary logo on the bags he had his answer.

“People love them,” Enright said. The cost is $3 for two bags.

The reusable bags also help support the city’s sustainability goals by giving customers an alternative to plastic or paper bags.

The quasquicentennial celebration marks the 125th anniversary of the city’s incorporation in November of 1888. The yearlong celebration kicked off on Dec. 1 with the Redlands Christmas Parade and additional events are being planned throughout Pandora Bracelets the year.
